Starting April 1, 2025, Namibia will enforce new visa requirements for nationals from 33 countries, including Switzerland. This change applies to nations that have not reciprocated Namibiaβs visa exemption policies.

The issuance of visas upon arrival does not replace the issuance of visas at the Embassies of Namibia, rather it complements it. Thus, the Permanent Mission of Namibia in Geneva continues issuing visas for travellers who wish to apply for their visas in advance.
EXEMPTION FOR DIPLOMATIC AND OFFICIAL PASSPORT HOLDERS
In a move to strengthen bilateral relations, the Cabinet has granted the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security the authority to exempt holders of
β’ Diplomatic and Official from the Republic of Switzerland,
β’ Diplomatic Passports from the Federal Republic of Germany
β’ Diplomatic Passports from the French Republic
This decision is a reciprocal gesture aimed at fostering closer ties with these nations.
Day Visit Fees for Cruise Liner Passengers
Cabinet has also approved the introduction of a new fee structure for visitors arriving in
Namibia via Walvis Bay and Luderitz Harbours, specifically for cruise liner passengers. A day
visit fee of N$300.00 will now apply to all passengers disembarking at these ports, enhancing
the tourism experience while supporting local infrastructure.
In a bid to streamline and harmonize the countryβs immigration policies, Cabinet has approved the reciprocity of holiday visas, short-term employment permits, and visa-on-arrival fees. The new structure will see:
β’ NAD 1200.00 for African Union (AU) countries
β’ NAD 1600.00 for non-African Union countries
This fee applies to holiday visas, short-term employment permits, and visa-on-arrival requests
for adult travellers.
Additionally, a fee will apply to minor children between the ages of 6 and 11
β’ NAD 600.00 for minors from African Union countries
β’ NAD 800.00 for minors from non-African Union countries
β’ Exemption for Children Under 6 Years
Group Bulk Payments for Online E-Visa Transactions
To simplify the process, the Ministry has introduced group bulk payments for online e-visa transactions, enabling service providers to pay up to N$97,000.
