STUDY AND WORK VISAS

 

  • Study and work visas are not issued by the Embassy but they are issued at the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration in Windhoek.

 

  • Study and work visas can be applied for a maximum period of 6 months.

 

  • You can apply through the Embassy.

 

  • Approval can take 2-3 months.

Visa application form (Ref No: 3-1/0033 - 2 pages) is available on the Embassy homepage. See Application forms on the Mission's webpage: www.missionofnamibia.ch

It is indicated on the page 2 that this form is for (A) Holiday/Business/Work/Transit visa and (B) Return visa.

Please note that this form is also to be filled in when applying for study visa.

Do not fill in the application form for Temporary work or study permit. It is to be filled in when a person is going to Namibia for a period more than 6 months. 

 

Study/Research visa:

• Completed visa application form
• Certified copy of passport (Certified copy of passport = a true, correct copy of passport - relevant page only - can be certified for example by Police or Notary)
• Motivation letter
• Proof of acceptance / registration with study institution (In case of Minor Field Study: Invitation/Motivation letter from the Institution/Organization in Namibia connected to Minor Field Study)
• Letter from Institution of country where she/he is studying in case of a research
• Police Clearance Certificate from country of origin (for visas over 3 months) 
  • Medical Certificate and radiological report

Requirements for work visa are available on the homepage of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration: www.mha.gov.na (See Types and Requirements for Visas) and are as follows:
 
Work visa:
 
  • Completed visa application form
  •  Certified copy of passport (Certified copy of passport = a true, correct copy of passport - relevant page only - can be certified for example by Police or Notary) 
  • Motivation Letter Proof of educational qualifications Police Clearance Certificate from the country of origin
  •  Proof of tender contract (for visas over 3 months)
  • Medical Certificate and radiological report

 Payment for study/work visa is to be made after approval by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration before the actual issuing. Fees for visas are available on the homepage of the Ministry: www.mha.gov.na.

Do not pay the visa fee when applying. Only the handling fee is to be paid when applying. 

When a study/work visa has been issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration and received by the Embassy, it will be forwarded to the applicant by e-mail.
