The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Namibia was established on 27 July 2010 as the 163rd UN Member State to be accredited to the United Nations Office at Geneva. The establishment of the Mission to the UN in Geneva highlights Namibia's commitment to work with the international community to promote sustainable development and the wellbeing of all peoples.

The Permanent Mission is also accredited to over 20 international organisations and agencies represented in Geneva. The following organisations and agencies deal with various issues ranging from development, economics, environment, human rights, humanitarian issues, and other international affairs. Namibia plays an active role in international fora in promoting good governance, the rule of law and the reform of international institutions for greater transparency and democracy.
